Open Question: How do we clean up my husbands credit so we can buy a home?
Before we got married my husband was in debt, I didnt know until later.. After we got married there are a few dings on his credit. The worst being a REPO for a car for 10 thousand, But to be honest He kept trying to get ahold of the bank and they either would not answer or blow him off. He cant just go to the bank, its in his old city 5-6 hours away. The next thing being a cell phone bill for a thousand, 2 banks for checks, medical, a few unpaid bills, there are others but those stick out. What is a successful way to pay down debt? We have 3 kids, So its hard to have alot extra a month. We want to buy a home in the future. Any ideas?

Open Question: Can I afford to move out?
I am going to have to work from home in the next few months, and where I live now, I will not be able to work from home. I don’t have an option, my company is making me. Here is some back ground.

After taxes, I bring home $2,597every month. The bills that I have now are $1017. That includes student loans, car payment, car insurance, cell phone, credit card (which I unfortunately can not pay off right away), and part of my medical. That leaves me $1580 for rent, utilities and food. Since I will be working from home, I wont use hardly any gas for my car, so that is the one upside to the situation. The cheapest places around me (since I’m in the Chicago area) are from $730-770 for a 1 bedroom 1 bath. Worst case, if I have to pay the high end of $770 that will leave me $810 for food, cable and electric. The apartment I am looking at includes all utilities except for electric. Since I will be working from home, my company will pick up the internet bill so I don’t have to worry about internet. I have $10,000 in the bank and will need to take about $2,000 to pay the rest of a student loan and to buy stuff for the apartment.

Is this something that I can do financially and stay above water? I am so scared with not knowing if I can make it or not since I will be forced to move. If someone can please be honest with me and let me know. Also, I really don’t want to get a roomate. Not just becuase I don’t want to live with anyone, but since I have to work from home, I can’t have a lot of distraction since my job is very tedious. Thanks so much!
