Open Question: how do i convince my parents to let me buy an iPhone 4?
First off, i’d like to ask you; what should my cell bill be? (or whats the average teenager cell phone bill)
now heres my story:
i’m 13 and i want to get my first cell phone. my parents have previously said “No” but that was almost a year ago and i’m ready to try again. its getting very irritating not to be able to call my friends.
i want a 16GB iPhone 4. i’ve configured the calling plan, and i ended up with: 450mins (i don’t talk that much), no texting (i don’t text), and 2GB DataPro plan (i need the internet capability the most, and i can just tether it to my Macbook Pro by jailbreaking it, and save $30/mo.)
in total, it costs $64.99/mo. i can make maybe $350-$450 a month, but i don’t want to spend more than $100 a month on phone service.
i already have an iPod Touch, so don’t recommend that to me. but its over 2 years old, and it crashes ALL the time. i started typing this question on it, but then it CRASHED and i had to retype it! i’m typing it on my Mac Pro now. this is also why i want to upgrade to an iPhone, which has enough RAM to run applications steadily… over twice what my Touch has…
how can i bring this question up to my parents? i’m very veryyyy bad at confronting people (about anything) and i don’t know how i can say: “Mom, can i buy and pay for an iPhone?” i usually just Email them about all the subjects that i feel uncomfortable to talk with them about, but i want to show them that i have matured, and am ready for a cell phone
please DON’T tell me i’m too young to have an iPhone! this is the 21st Century!! WHY don’t any of you allow any change! this is how the world works! CHANGE. just because “we didn’t have these fancy schmancy machines when i was a youngin’” doesn’t mean we can’t have them now.
how about this, a couple hundred years ago, if a woman wore pants (not a dress) she was considered to be rebellious and disrespectful. NOW, women who wear pants aren’t viewed as any different from the others.
i believe that the same thing is for today’s controversy against teenagers owning electronic devices. in 150 yrs-200 yrs, we will all wonder what was wrong with us.
while i do acknowledge some of the dangers of teens owning personal internet devices (pornog.raphy, internet stalkers, identity theft etc.) i think the positives (learning from the internet, using for emergencies, useful apps like the unit converter, etc.) far outweigh the dangers. and if you’re careful, you won’t run into any of the dangers.
iPhones are great learning devices. i have an iPod Touch 2G, and i learned more from that awesome little device than i learned from school or books in my entire life! you all fail to realize the potential of these magnificent devices.
many of you will probably ask how i make all this money, well, here it is: i make my money by doing yard work for my parents and relatives, and doing random odd jobs around the neighborhood. i doo very well in school too (straight A’s and B’s) so i reel in a respectable sum every couple months to reward my good work and behavior.
i also make about the other 60% of my money by sending in video’s i have made using my Mac Pro to contests. i make special effects videos and i send them in to various contests a couple times a month. i usually win because my videos are of almost professional quality, and i intend to be a film director or editor when i grow up.
i also save most of my money too. i keep it for years on end to buy hugely expensive things. i saved for 3 years to buy my Mac Pro (2.66hz 8-Core Intel Xenon) and 1 1/2 years for my 15″ MacBook Pro Core i5, which i JUST bought, and it is amazing.
i am now saving for a 30″ Apple HD display to accompany one of my old DELL displays.
i would also of course pay for the iPhone and the monthly fee.
please be open minded about all of this. i’m just sharing my thoughts.
haha, sorry that this is turning into more of a lecture than a Yahoo question, but i just thought i’d give you all a piece of my mind, and show you the truth, because i asked this question 4 times before, and ALL i got was a bunch of angry adults telling my i’m too young for an iPhone (or a cellular phone, for that matter)…………….
please just take all this into consideration, and give me some real answers, not just some nagging.
my best friend just got an iPhone for his birthday, and that is what kicked me into overdrive to get a cell phone.
they said they were going to get me a cell phone for emergencies (not an iPhone, probably some crappy samsung or something) but then, my Mom backed out because she thought it was too expensive just to add another phone (she over-saves her money, LOL) but, now that i’m willing and able to pay the bills, i’m wondering if she’ll reconsider.
please give me some good answers!
Open Question: Which company—AT&T or Verizon—gives better cell phone coverage at USC and in LA?
I’m considering buying an iPhone 4 that I’ll be using mainly at USC and in the greater LA area, since I’ll be attending USC as an undergraduate student starting this fall (2010.) My parents have no preference, as we get solid reception from both companies at my house, but I don’t want to get an iPhone if AT&T’s reception is bad at USC. Can any USC students/parents enlighten me about the quality of AT&T’s reception on campus and in the nearby area? Thanks!
Resolved Question: how do ‘at home’ artists record their songs?
Like they make their own songs at home, but its very good quality. Ive tried using a mic from a camera, and using a laptop but i sound horrible. Im starting to think i just suck at singing and should quit :,(
Maybe its the quality?
I have a song, I just need to record my voice and lyrics over it, but once i try to do that the song turns into crap because of the recording quality.
It sounds too high. Like it was recorded on a cell phone, and it starts lagging on the background and goes off beat.
Basically:
How do I record my voice over my own music, and have good quality. I used audacity and mixcraft [garageband] to put the beat together. So recording is my only problem
Thank you guys soo much! ive been trying everything and i think i might just give up
ive been at it [voice effects, ect] for soo long, and cant figure this out.
