Open Question: Long-distance 3 way calling?
So my boyfriend has me in his fave5 canada wide, so he can make phone calls to my cell phone while he is in a different province. Right now the sound quality on my cell phone is poor, is it possible for me to three-way my home phone using my cell phone, and talk to him on my home phone? Would charges apply to him?
Open Question: What camera should I look at?
I lost my camera last quarter at school and this summer I’m looking for a new one. But I don’t know what to look at.
Budget: I know cameras under $100 tend to be poorly made and take worse pictures, but I’m not looking for something over $250.
Size: I need a camera to be able to fit in my purse. A point and shoot that is about the size of a cell phone, or a little bit larger. Not an SLR.
Quality: I need good quality pictures because I’m an artist and I use a lot of my own photography as references or as their own pieces. It needs a GREAT macro setting, as well as decent point and shoot/auto settings for parties and outings. Also, an extra plus would be a camera that shoots well in aquariums.
Zoom: Standard to Ultrazoom
Do you care for manual exposure modes (shutter priority, aperture priority, manual)? If they have it, great, if not, oh well. But must have MACRO!!
General Usage: I’m an art photographer and a student. So I need a camera that is hardy enough to withstand a night of partying and give me amazing quality when I take my artsy shots. However, I’m probably not blowing up my pictures to larger than 8.5×11 generally. I will be using my camera in dimly lit frat parties as well as bright aquariums and outdoor scenes. I play lacrosse so being able to capture moving people is important too.
Brands: I HATE KODAK
Video: I need to have a video setting.
Thanks!
Resolved Question: Is this the worst time in all of American history to be a young adult?
Back when I was in high school my history teacher told me that learning history is so important because when you learn about the mistakes of former generations you are less likely to repeat them. I truly took that statement to heart. In my days of schooling as a Generation Y we were taught how lucky we are because of all these advances in technology with computers, e-mail, hybrid cars, cell phones, better medical technology, etc. So I basically felt sorry for my parents that they had to grow up in the 70s when things were so “different.” I realize civil rights used to be awful. Women were not nearly as empowered as they are now. So I always felt that things used to suck back in the day. I can cite examples of polio outbreaks and other terrible things that were not able to be treated back in the day. So in spite of all the advancements that have been made in America or even the World at large, things basically suck. Women have equal rights. Minorities have equal rights under the law. We have the best medical facilities in the world. Yet life for young adults still sucks. Morals have totally been thrown out the window. Were women really worse off as homemakers than they are now (many of which I just saw at a bar) scantily clad “skanky types” with tattoos, running around having abortions or hooking up guys, or running trains or whatever it is young women demean themselves with these days. College students don’t care. The professors just pass kids and it’s hard to tell whether a college educated person even knows how to read, given the lack of quality education they have received…most likely because the professors lack an interest in academia just as much as the kids these days. I read about the “ME” generation of the 70s, was it? So are we living in the “ME times 100 times 10, squared” generation? I think, yes. So is the world basically going backwards?
When has it been this bad to be a young adult (high school, getting out of college) in the United States? We felt sorry for our parents because they grew up in such “difficult” times as baby boomers, but they turned out alright didn’t they? I’m not sure I will be able to say the same for my generation in 30 years…how about you?
