It’s called Amber is Gone and well…just read and tell me what you think…this is not the beginning and it is only part of it..

I didn’t wear black because I was Goth or because I was dysfunctional. I wore it because I could. It just seemed natural to me. Like you just know you’re supposed to.
I told this to my therapist once, and she abruptly asked me if I missed Amber.
“Miss Jennifer,” I said calmly, “Have you ever seen someone kidnapped?”
“Well, no,” She responded in that therapist type voice that I hate.
“Oh?” I said as if this shocked me or even amused me in a sick little way. She run her hand through her hair self consciously.
“And did…” I leaned in closer, widening my eyes, imitating exactly the way she did, “did your father leave you when you needed him the most?”
I knew that her father hadn’t left her. There was a picture on her desk right in front of me of her family when she was graduating from college.
“Rayne, I-”
“Yeah, that’s what I thought, Miss Jennifer. This session is over,” I stalked out of her office.
How dare she ask me if I missed Amber! As if the expression I wore everyday didn’t advertise it! As if I’m not scarred for life from that incident on Main Street! How dare she!
I began to run down the sidewalk, getting dirty looks from everyone I bumped into. I knew exactly where I was going though. As I turned down a back road, the thought whispered in my mind that maybe I shouldn’t do it. It couldn’t possibly still be the way it-
I stopped short when it suddenly appeared right in front of me. The big white house Amber lived in on the outskirts of town, all it’s majestic glory gone. It looked slightly grey without the Wright family occupying it and the great laughter from Amber and her sister Halle that lived there. I could almost hear it if I tried hard enough.
I walked up to the screen door and pulled. It was unlocked. I tried the big door, and it was not. I hoped that the key they kept in the loose brick on the side of the house was still there. Yes! It was. I knew what I was doing was considered trespassing, breaking and entering, and probably lots of other things, but I was barely thinking this as the door slipped open with a sharp click! and I was in.
Everything was the same minus the nice furniture and appliances that used to fill the house. There was a rumor around the school that they had kept Amber’s room the same, and they hadn’t taken anything with them when the moved away. Just left it like it was when she left it. I didn’t believe it at first, but at that moment, I really wanted to. I wanted to open that door and everything be the same. The box of pizza we left on the bed that day she was taken because we were in a hurry to catch the sales at the little shops on Main Street. Her cell phone to be plugged in the wall like it always was. Boots in the floor, hairdryer dangling dangerously off the dresser but never falling, duffel bag packed and ready to stay the night at my house. I prayed and prayed for it to be like this when I went it. But I stopped at the door and got a flash of myself a year ago, standing in this exact place, rocking back and forth on my feet, hand on the doorknob, eyes closed and imagining that Amber was on the other side with her head in a book, eagerly anticipating my arrival.
I thrust the door open with all my strength. Dust flew everywhere, but there was nothing but the flowered wallpaper and the lime green walls I had become so familiar with. Everything was gone. I spun around and around, trying to find something that would give me a morsel of hope that Amber’s spirit was still in the room, but I got nothing. Collapsing into a dizzy heap on the floor, I put my head in my hands and cried.

Open Question: is this fair work ethic?
I work at Dillard’s a department store. We have a rule that we can not have cellphones on the sales floor. I hate this rule for one reason. A couple of years ago a department store got shot up and alot of people die. If that happened to me im going to the stock room and calling the cops on my cell.There’s no phones in the stock room. anyhoo, They caught me with my phone on me they wrote me up and told me if they caught me with my phone again i will be fired. What pisses me off is the assistant store manager can use his cell phone on the sales floor why cant i? Well after they wrote me up I had to put my phone in my locker. i said f that and stuffed it in my bra ( i didn’t have pockets) and stashed it away in my department. The store manager comes down and is integrating me asking over and over if I had my cell phone in my locker. I lied and said yes. Almost every manager (asm) working that day was searching to see if I had my cell phone on the floor. But they weren’t telling me they were looking for it. but i knew they were. trying to be sneaky. they couldn’t find where i put it thank god. I found some xmas boxes and stuffed it in them i went on my lunch and were going to bring them home. They were watching me the whole time on the cameras. I have seen many asms bringing these boxes home and nobody says anything. When i was going home for lunch two asms ( managers) came down and told me I was not suppose to take the boxes. Then they proceeded to search my purse and my jacket pockets with out a cop or security present. I have a duney and burke purse non clear. We are suppose to have a clear purse i hate them and don’t wear it plus like three other workers don’t have clear bags and they are not yelled at. But i am. Is this bs? I feel like they were entrapping me to find my cell and get me fired. Are they in the right or am i? thank you
