Open Question: Should I get the iPhone 3G S or wait for the next iPhone?
I got the 1st gen. iPhone in September 2007. It was my first cell phone (I was 12 when I got it) and I love it; the apps, my music, and the internet in my hand wherever I go. I almost upgraded to the 3G last year because it was a big upgrade but decided to wait for this year’s model because I would have to pay a lot of money to upgrade in the middle of my contract and that wasn’t worth it.
So I waited and waited and when they finally released the 3G S… I was disappointed. I wanted a bigger upgrade, but they barely upgraded it.
Since my current iPhone’s contract is almost expired, I am wondering if I should just buy the new one and have to wait another 2 years to get next year’s (supposedly huge) upgrade, or get a different, less expensive phone on a 1 year contract, get the features that I like but my iPhone doesn’t have (touch screen AND physical keyboard, better camera, non-AT&T), and then decide if I want next year’s iPhone without the hassle of ending a contract.
Some other important information:
-I have the 2nd gen. iPod Touch, so I will still be able to use my apps and music.
-My current iPhone’s screen is cracked, so it has minimal value. It still works though.
-If I were to get a different phone, I really like the LG enV Touch, the Palm Pre, or the Samsung Memoir. Any recommendation on those or other phones?
-I love Apple, but hate AT&T and their iPhone plan. I heard the iPhone might be available on Verizon next year? Is this true? If it is, I would really lean on option 2.

I currently have the first lg rumor, and after the butt-load of problems that it has had i’m never going to buy a cell phone again without hearing what people have to say about it. Right now the phone is having a problem with the battery dying ten mintunes after it has been on the charger. I got a new battery and it did the same thing. I’m not willing to put up with the sprint service people again, and since I’m eligible for an upgrade I think I would like to take that. Any suggestions on phones that would be good for someone who wants to text use the internet and occasionally talk on the phone? I need a phone with a full keyboard. I’m thinking about the Blackberry Curve, The Palm centro or the Samsung Instinct? If anybody could tell me the pros and cons and personal experiences with those phones that would be awesome! also, it has been thrown out that we may switch att at the end of our contract in a few months. So a new sprint phone may be out of the question, does anyone on ATT know which phones would be similar to the ones I am looking at? Sorry this is so long, I would just like to see what other people think about these things.
