Open Question: How can I hook up a router to my computer and have it work as a router to my wireless connection?
Ok, my question seems a bit difficult, but here is what I am dealing with. I have a wireless USB adapter hooked up to my computer and going out to my balcony to be able to capture the signal from the ground floor of where we live. I cannot get the signal anywhere else in my house.
So I would like to hook up a wireless router that I have to my computer and have it emit the signal that I am getting from the ground floor so I can use my wireless electronic devices, such as my iPhone and PSP, in the comfort of my own home.
Is there anyway that I can do this and still be able to use the Internet on my computer while sending on the Internet signal to the router?
Well, it’s WiFi downstairs, so I am not able to touch the router. I looked into making an ad-hoc connection, which would normally work since I have a built-in wireless card in my computer. However, for some reason, it won’t share the connection. It has an error everytime I try to share the connection.
Any ideas how I could expand the WiFi into my room? (By the way, my computer isn’t on the balcony, it is in the house and I have several USB cables running out to the balcony.)
